What is Animal Testing?
Animal testing is when companies test their products or medicines on animals before putting their products on the market for retail sale. These products can range from a variety of beauty products to common day medicines we use everyday such as aspirin.
Animal testing is practiced by many companies in today society. The reason is so that the company can ensure that their product is safe for humans to use. While the majority of companies test their products on animals some companies have found alternatives. These companies do not test their products on animals but still have ways to ensure that they are safe for people to use.

Extra: Animal testing is not a recent practice; animal testing was used as far back in history as ancient Greece. In the third and fourth centuries B.C., Greeks started the practice of animal testing because their society made it illegal to dissect a human to do medical research. The first people to officially test on an animal were Aristotle and Erasistratus when they studied the circulatory and nervous systems of mammals.
